That’s the text response of PBA Commissioner Chito Salud on the proposed swap that would send Powerade’s Marcio Lassiter to Petron Blaze for 2010 No. 1 draft pick Nonoy Baclao and forward Rey Guevarra.
Not to preempt Commissioner Chito but his words don’t sound too promising to me, as far as the deal getting approved in it original form is concerned.
It’s not even cryptic. Deciphered, it would read: Give me a proposal that doesn’t require too much consideration and evaluation.”
But who knows? Maybe someone will get lucky.
Salud is expected back today from a short vacation abroad, and he will plunge head-on into a much-agitated beehive’s nest during an emergency board meeting at the PBA office in Libis, Quezon City.
What set off alarm bells apparently are stories that the Coca-Cola franchise, carrying the brand name Powerade, is being resold to San Miguel Corporation, its former owner.
Representatives from both companies have denied that talks of an impending return of ownership is underfoot, but smoke has been billowing steadily from the rumor, fanned by, among others, the proposed acquisition of Lassiter, one half of Powerade’s dynamic duo, by Petron.
It’s not in my territory to touch on the merits of the case. But my little street sense tells me Commissioner Salud will demand a definitive answer from Powerade as to what benefit it sees to gain from dealing away the reason – other than Gary David – why the Tigers were able to make it all the way to the PBA Philippine Cup Finals.
Why let go of a high-caliber asset ?
If the answer is because the reported sale of Powerade is, in fact, affirmative, an appropriate time may not suffice for the extensive consideration and evaluation of the implications such a grim development would require.
But if it’s any other, then it’ll be a walk-in-the-park for Commissioner Salud.
It is already, as things stand.
PBA: Decision time
“I will consider and evaluate the trade at the appropriate time.”

The final three castaways admit they are the least likely candidates for ultimate victory in the GMA 7 reality show, “Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown.”
But prior to the grand finale (tomorrow), the trio of Mara Yokohama, Stef Prescott and Albert “Betong” Sumaya claim they have accepted their inevitable date with destiny.
Mara is proud that two girls made it to the finals, pointing out that they prevailed over tougher rivals, including fierce athletes John Odulio and Arnold Aninion, and savvy hunks KC Montero and Gino de la Peña, who were seriously into the game.
“It proves that ‘Survivor’ isn’t just about strength; you also have to use your brain and strategize,” Mara notes.
It is personally gratifying for Stef, who endured all sorts of mishaps, like a snake bite, throughout the show’s run. “Plus, I was an outcast. Everyone hated me at first.”
Betong is just as incredulous as the girls. “I couldn’t believe that an underdog like me would make it this far. I imagined KC making it here … I never won in the challenges.”
His strategy was simple, he says. “I played ‘social worker’—I ‘socialized’ with the others. I was always willing to work, gathering firewood or cooking. In short, my teammate Maey (Bautista) and I acted like official helpers on the island.”
Stef hopes Betong will win if the votes don’t go her way tomorrow: “Actually, I’d be happy if anyone of us wins, but Betong really needs the P3-million cash prize.”
Mara concurs: “The prize will help Kuya Albert’s financial situation, but I still hope to win.”
Diplomatic
Betong remains diplomatic: “Either of the two girls should win.” Pressed to choose, he picks Stef. “She’s a breadwinner like me. Her journey on the island has been interesting, too.”
For the final voting, only jury members—seven former castaways—will have a say on the outcome.
In spite of being “controversial,” Mara doesn’t count herself out of the race—not just yet. Along with her equally feisty mom, Maria Isabel Lopez, Mara is one of the most unpopular castaways among fans and jury members.
Whatever the results, Mara already feels like a winner. She quips, “I grew up and became independent in the camp. I have no regrets about how I played the game.” And as bonus, “Who knew I’d find the right guy in Palawan?”
Mara is referring to Arnold of the rugby team Philippine Volcanoes. “I’m assured of at least one vote from the jury because of Arnold,” she gushes.

Fictitious P150 banknote circulating on the Internet
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on Wednesday warned consumers and netizens of “fictitious” images of a P150 banknote purportedly to commemorate the 150th anniversary of national hero Jose Rizal.
In a statement issued to news media, the Bangko Sentral said it has “never issued nor is planning to issue such type of banknote. Therefore, any 150-Piso commemorative note or similar banknote is fictitious.”
GMA News Online’s web search yielded at least three blogs that posted images of the “proposed P150 banknote” the front side of which bears a black and white photograph of Rizal and the logo of the BSP and the seal of the Philippine government. On the reverse side is a depiction of the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs. Read full story here by Earl Victor Rosero, GMA News.

Chris Brown returns to Grammys; Rihanna also to perform
-By Reuters
LOS ANGELES - Chris Brown will perform at this Sunday's Grammy Awards for the first time since beating his then girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 on the eve of the music industry's biggest night, which threatened to derail his music career.
Rihanna also is among the stars performing live at the event, and rumors have flown among fans and celebrity watchers in recent weeks that the pair may be secretly dating again -- speculation Brown's representatives have dismissed.
Grammy organizers said on Tuesday that Brown, who has three nominations including best R&B singer for his album "F.A.M.E.", had been added to the line-up for the February 12 awards show in Los Angeles.
They said Brown will join Foo Fighters, Lil Wayne, David Guetta and Deadmau5 for a performance highlighting dance and electronica music for the first time on the Grammy Awards show stage.
Organizers said last month that Rihanna, who has four nominations including album of the year for "Loud", will sing with Coldplay on the Grammy stage.
Brown, 22, has skipped the Grammys since launching a violent attack on Rihanna in 2009, leaving her battered and bruised and Brown in the custody of police.
Brown publicly apologized, admitted to criminal assault in court. A judge sentenced him to five years probation, six months community service and anger management counseling. But his clean-cut image took a major blow.
Rihanna's career on the other hand soared, and she scored hits with songs like "Man Down" and "Love the Way You Lie", which dealt with violence against women.
The pair appeared to have gone their separate ways but in recent months, speculation buzzed that they had reunited after they were spotted at the same Los Angeles nightclub and put out a series of cryptic messages on Twitter.
But Brown's spokesman said in January that Brown and Rihanna were "just friends".

The Miami Heat inched closer to the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 107-91 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday (Wednesday, PHL time).
Dwyane Wade scored a game-high 26 points and LeBron James had 24 against his former team as the Heat put the game out of reach with a fourth-quarter surge.
Miami led 84-78 with just over nine minutes left before embarking on an 8-0 run that padded the advantage to double digits and helped the Heat (19-6) move within a game of the conference-leading Chicago Bulls.
The Cavaliers (9-14) are moving forward from losing James to Miami in 2010 with a surprisingly solid start to the season behind No. 1 overall draft pick Kyrie Irving, who recorded 16 points against the Heat.
Antawn Jamison had 25 points and nine rebounds for the Cavaliers, who kept pace with the Heat for three quarters before losing steam in the fourth.

There are many possible scenarios for the end of the world this coming December 21, 2012.
After this date, a mere fraction of a percentage of humanity is expected to survive. That is a mere 327 days from now, and yet our own government still insists on paying attention to issues such as overpopulation and reproductive health when there is a more pressing issue — namely, the extinction of the human race — at stake.
Unfortunately, this is but a small part of a 2012ologyglobal conspiracy by governments, big businessmen and other elites around the world to keep it a secret. Therefore, it is necessary for us to be proactive in our preparations to prevent our own demise.
However, there are certain obstacles which severely hamper our chances of success. I suspect that almost all of us do not have the necessary 100 billion euros necessary to secure a ticket to any of the six state-of-the-art arks covertly being constructed in the Himalayas, not to mention the additional hundred billion per additional family member we wish to bring along. Even if we did, it is notoriously difficult to get across the border without our own personal planes, sports cars, friends from a nearby Tibetan village and, barring all of these, a special dispensation from Beijing.
Thus, if we want to secure the best possible chances of survival for ourselves, our loved ones and our bloodlines, it is best to be prepared for anything and, given limited resources, to be as creative and resourceful as possible in these efforts. Thankfully, these qualities are to be found in abundance among our people.
Nevertheless, it is useful to note the possible scenarios in which doomsday will play out, and to list down certain tips or to-dos to ensure we are well-prepared. Fortunately, the leading authorities of our time in pseudoscience, entertainment, and business have proposed a few major theories on the apocalypse event; these theories should be as much a part of the academic curriculum of students as the Big Bang is, given their significance and implications for the fate of mankind.
But first, let us review some basic tips in preparing for the apocalypse event and life in the post-apocalyptic world.
• Start stocking up on essential goods such as food, water, oxygen, gas masks, and magazines for entertainment. (It is likely that there will be a blackout after Dec. 21.) As early as three years ago, serving the needs of 2012ologists has become a lucrative industry. If you have not yet started stockpiling canned goods, dehydrated foods, and gallons of mineral water, it is not yet too late.
• It is also advisable to take out as many loans as possible to invest in the building of underground shelters, which should keep you safe in most doomsday scenarios. Do not worry about your ability to pay later on. By the time Dec. 21 finishes, there will be no more banks to pay.
• In case you have a car, it is recommended that it be parked in an underground parking facility on the night of the 20th. This way, you are self-sufficient in transportation in most post-apocalyptic scenarios save the great flood. This is important considering that public transportation is likely to be extremely unreliable after the apocalypse event. If one relies on public transportation to get to places every day, it is best to invest in a bicycle (sidecars optional), or to start walking to more places to build stamina. This has the double effect of being friendly to the environment.
• Lastly, make sure to stock up on all sorts of weapons and tools: guns, ammunition, screwdrivers, lock picks. When the stockpile of essential goods runs out, these will be useful for raiding abandoned warehouses and 7Elevens; hopefully it will not be necessary to raid the shelters of your neighbors.
Great flood scenario
Arguably the most well-known scenario, given the blockbuster success of Roland Emmerich’s historic film, is the great flood. Most of the world’s landmass is likely to be submerged under several feet of ocean when this happens.
• It is necessary to secure sufficient supplies of oxygen and water bottles; water will be in abundance in this scenario. Make sure to waterproof all electronics and appliances.
• It is also necessary to invest in a wet suit and basic lessons in swimming and snorkeling.
• Building a crude submarine out of the car and other scrap metals (to lessen costs) is also advisable. Otherwise, start making friends with people who have yachts or Badjao relatives, if not Badjaos themselves.
• For an enjoyable apocalypse, one might also want to buy an inflatable raft, set it up at the desired location on the morning of the 21st, and ride it when the tide comes in.
Earth will get hit by a meteor
• It is best to stock up on sunglasses, jackets, hooded coats, umbrellas, wool socks, boots, swimming trunks and bathing suits so as to be prepared for any kind of weather.
• For some of us it might be best to start losing weight. As the fall of the dinosaurs demonstrated, any organism weighing 60 kg or greater will surely be obliterated.
• It might help to pray that the meteor does not fall where you live.
Zombie outbreak
For a comprehensive guide on survival in a post-apocalyptic zombie world, read the “Zombie Survival Guide” by Max Brooks, available at any National Bookstore, Fully Booked, or PowerBooks near you. Collision with another planet
This scenario is advanced by many online proponents, most notably Nancy Lieder who was telepathically told by aliens from the star Zeta Reticuli that a planet named Nibiru will collide with the Earth that day, causing the geomagnetic poles of the earth to shift and wiping out mankind in the process. According to Lieder, Nibiru is at least four times as large as the earth, and is inhabited by sentient beings identified with Sumerian deities called the Annunaki.
It is therefore best to learn about Nibiru and its inhabitants: their language, culture and customs. Vacation tips around the planet should be organized with the unique weather and seasons of the planet in mind.
Consulting with intergalactic travel agents is highly recommended. This way, we might be able to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of this strange new world.
At the end of the day, it is necessary first and foremost to accept the reality that our chances of survival are very slim. Should this disillusion you and cloud your vision with hopeless despair, it is best to stop sulking and suppress thoughts of committing suicide.
Instead you must, as countless have said, party like it’s the end of the world.

MANILA, Philippines – Former Ilocos Sur Congressman Ronald Singson’s surprise appearance at rumored ex-girlfriend Lovi Poe’s birthday celebration on “Party Pilipinas” doesn't mean he’s trying to win her back.
“Wala pa namang usapang gano’n,” Ronald told “Balitanghali” on Feb. 6, adding that the two of them are “just working on our friendship for now.”
In the episode, Ronald was seen walking up on stage after Lovi’s performance to give her a bouquet of flowers and a short message. Initially, the former politician reportedly only intended to give her the flowers backstage. The actress, who’ll turn 23 on Feb. 11, was obviously surprised by the gesture.
“Honestly, even when I was away, I still pray for your career. And ngayon, maski bilang isang kaibigan, I’m still 100% behind you,” he told Lovi.
Ronald was arrested in Hong Kong on July 2010 after being allegedly caught with several grams of cocaine and Valium. During his arraignment in September, his father Chavit and Lovi were there to offer him support. Ronald was convicted on February last year to spend 18 months in a Hong Kong prison; however, allegedly due to good behavior, his jail time was shortened. He returned to the Philippines last Jan. 14.
For her part, Lovi told “Unang Hirit” on Tuesday, “Everyday ka nagwo-work. ‘Di mo na masingit… parang it’s best na sarili ko muna ‘yung iisipin ko.”
Prior, the two were spotted together at Tim Yap’s Mad Hatter birthday party on Jan. 24.
Lovi has expressed in earlier interviews that she will always be Ronald’s friend, and that she’s “in a relationship” with her career.
Curiously, the two have never denied nor confirmed their relationship to the public.
