CANDABA, Pampanga, Philippines - Mayor Jerry Pelayo revealed that the residents of candaba and the loca-goverment are ready for the celebration of The Ibon Ebon festival (Birds and Eggs festival). It's a unique and colorful event which celebrates Candaba's eco-tourism, being home to thousand of migratory birds, and showcases its local duck-egg industry through various activities
Among the activities that on behalf of the candaba residents Mayor Pelayo said - Feb 1, 'Harvest fest, (Barangay Salapungan) at Grand dress rehearsal in main street dancers (Poblacion)' - Feb 2, 'Trade fair and tiangge, (Poblacion) at Jamming with “Ibon” dancers (Genuino Park)'. - Feb 3, 'The grand street dancing parade, form Poblacion to Ms. Earth Park, Barangay Mandasig'. 'Bird watching, (Dona Simang Wildlife Reserve)' 'River cruise, (Pampanga River)' 'Kite flying, (Barangay Mandasig)' and Concert of Sandwich Band (East Park in Barangay Bahay Pare).' - Feb 5, Street dancing in Barangay Pulongplazan toward Bahay Pare' 'duck(itik) cooking contest, duck's race, duck's best dressed contest, dragon boat race and free concert by Spongecola (Ms. Earth Park in Barangay Mandasig).
This year's celebration of the Ibon-Ebon festival will be on February 1 - 5, 2012. Bird watchers & nature-lovers in general will surely enjoy the bird watching tours, swamp & river cruise, parade and "bird-kite" flying among other planned activities.
The 1st Ibon-Ebon festival occurred in 1998, the Ibon Ebon festival is one of the unique celebrations that we can promote and further develop. It even has an ecological aspect in it in these times of environmental awareness and care. -Source (The Philippine Star)
